I bought this thinking I’d be productive. Instead, I spent hours rearranging my virtual room, petting my pet and listening to rain sounds. Also, this game told me to drink water. I did. Game of the year. 10/10, worth it.

Possibly the cutest idler game ever. As someone with diagnosed ADHD who chooses not to take adderall for it, I struggle a lot with keeping up with my chores, and with the things I'd like to do. This is a game that puts you on task and reminds you to do things- There's a journal with different prompts, a stopwatch (also plans your breaks for you), a timer, and a schedule, and rewards you for completing your daily tasks. You can set your character to do lil things around your fully customizable home, like gaming at your desk, or knitting by the fire- As you do certain tasks during certain times of the day you earn cute little creatures who can hangout with you. The character creator is super nice as well, with 5 different slots you can save and switch between- I made an oni, an avatar that looks like me, an avatar that looks like my boyfriend, a dragon girl, and a bunny girl. :) Outside of gaming, I spend a lot of time reading or working on things at my own desk, and I've been using this as a cute desktop background while I'm occupied with other things, and I'm immensely satisfied. They're still pushing out cheap DLC content, with a roadmap into 2026, so you can expect more (paid) content for some time, as well! I'm really enjoying it, it's super adorable. 10/10.

We’re seeing a rise in attention span deficits and more people are finding themselves struggling to focus on even the simplest of tasks. We have developed excellent strategies towards getting more things done like a to-do list, habit tracking, journaling, Pomodoro timers, even body-doubling. Now imagine there is a game out there that provides all these features in one super chill package. You also get the pleasure of unlocking special themed spirits based on your activities! The best part about this productivity game is you don’t have to do anything. There is actually an activity that is just relaxing on your bed or even looking out the window. Heck, you can even get rewarded for gaming while you game. A game within a game! 😂 The highly customizable characters and safe space feeling bedroom environment is just the icing on top of this delicious cake. You’ll get to journey to Spirit City, a dreamy little town where you’re the main character of a chill, self-improvement story. It’s not about grinding or winning. It’s about taking the chaos of everyday life and turning it into something you actually want to interact with. 🧠 WHY IT'S ADHD-FRIENDLY (AND NEURODIVERGENT APPROVED] - Gamification of Real Life: Remember all those planners you buy but forget to use? In Spirit City, your to-do list turns into quests. Did you remember to hydrate today? Boom, you just earned XP on your habit tracker. Finished a chore? Congrats, that’s a To-Do List task well done. Did you realize halfway into your next task that you don’t even have the energy for it so you just want to relax?! There is also an “activity” feature for that, so yes, you are rewarded simply for being YOU in that present relaxed moment. - Lo-fi Vibes Included: The built-in soundtracks provide various vibes like upbeat and energetic or ready for relaxation. Soft beats like these can help keep your brain in that perfect state between focus and chill, like a productivity hug for your neurons. - Ambience rather than Music: Maybe you don’t want to listen to Lo-fi music, but the silence is deafening. Spirit City even has ambient sounds you can layer such as brown noise and bird chirps or the symphony of a crackling fire. You have so many options to choose from! - Micro-Tasks for Macro-Wins: Big overwhelming goals? This game helps you slice life into bite-sized pieces, perfect for digestion when that executive dysfunction hits. - Customizable Avatars and Environment: Decorate your in-game sanctuary to reflect your actual personality (hello, serotonin boost). Your space becomes as cozy and quirky as you are with just the right amount of interior decorator vibes. 🎮 HOW TO PLAY? The goal of the game is whatever you want it to be. You get to set real-life goals in the game and then completing them helps you unlock new spirits, character customization, and environmental details. On top of the fact that your brain will feel a benefit from completing your tasks or even just resting mindfully. Think of it as digital pet collector meets productivity planner meets your favorite ADHD app that finally did it right. ❓ WHY PLAY? This game doesn’t punish you for missing a day. Instead, it says, “Hey, life’s messy. Wanna pick up where we left off?” It gently nudges without being a bossy app with distracting notifications. Plus, you can approach your day as creatively as you want—want to write down random ideas? Create a playlist? Meditate? Maybe you just want to relax on the bed or stare out the window. All of it earns you credit in Spirit City. ⭐ YOU SHOULD PLAY… - If your brain loves novelty but also desperately craves structure. - If “go with the flow” sounds like the game mode you’d pick in real life. - If you need a little extra magic to turn mundane tasks into authentically rewarding experiences. So, if you’re ready to romanticize the little in addition to the big things in your life, Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is waiting to turn your day into an aesthetic, ADHD-friendly masterpiece. And hey, don’t forget if you start today and miss tomorrow that is totally ok especially in Spirit City.

I’m 46, been gaming since the Atari/NES days, and I live with a chronic illness that makes energy and focus a rare commodity. Some days, even booting up a game feels like climbing Everest. But Spirit City: Lofi Sessions? This little gem meets me where I am and gently nudges me forward. It’s not a game in the traditional sense. No boss fights, no QTE's, no pressure. Just a cozy room, a very nice selection of chill lofi beats, and a bunch of adorable spirit creatures that feel like emotional support animals in pixel form. You set your real-life tasks; whether it’s taking meds, stretching, or just drinking water, and the game rewards you with XP, decorations, and new spirits. It’s gamified self-care, and it works. I’ve found myself looking forward to my daily sessions. I light the virtual fireplace, turn on the rain sounds, and journal for a few minutes. Sometimes I just sit and breathe. And when a new spirit shows up? It’s like a little high-five from the universe. The art is beautiful, the music is soothing, and the whole vibe is like a warm blanket for the soul. For someone like me... who battles fatigue, brain fog, and the occasional existential spiral, this game is more than entertainment. It’s a gentle companion. A reminder that progress doesn’t have to be loud or fast. Sometimes, showing up is enough. If you’re dealing with health stuff, burnout, or just need a soft place to land, Spirit City might be exactly what you didn’t know you needed.

Spirit City is a cosy and calming productivity tool with gamified features. It excels best as a “second screen” tool that you leave open, with your main screen being your work or active activity! It’s barely resource-intensive, so with a mid-range PC, you can easily have many other demanding programs open alongside it without losing performance.
Visuals and Customisability
Spirit City has a really gorgeous aesthetic, focusing on stylisation over realism (a big plus in my books!). The game space is neatly laid out, lighting is well done, and the UI feels clean with no over-designing. You can also hide the entire UI with one button. The character animations can be a little janky at times, but it has that indie game charm. All the spirits (your creature companions) are visually gorgeous, with plenty of customisability; if you don’t enjoy the base design of one, there will almost definitely be a skin you’ll like instead. Character customisability is great too, for the most part. There’s some proportion jank with the body type sliders, which definitely needs another pass, but the models look great if you’re not at the extremes (the plus-size options especially need work). I really like that the hairstyles are super varied and designed with different hair types in mind. The clothing options are abundant, and I’d love it if older non-DLC clothing got custom colouring sliders at some point. I haven’t noticed any major clipping issues during gameplay. Room customisability is impressive for a "game" primarily focused on productivity. You can’t change the XYZ location of furniture, but each furniture slot has a ton of custom options. e.g., while you can’t move the desk, there are so many different desks that it doesn’t matter. There are a huge amount of decor options, and with the Cosy Kitchen DLC you can custom-colour everything in the kitchen area. I’m confident that with the available options, you can achieve essentially any aesthetic. I was genuinely surprised at how customisable everything is. I can’t overstate how excellent and well put-together this aspect is. The backdrops outside the window, while beautiful, do feel a little limited. It’s mainly cityscapes and forestscapes, with some themed extras. I’d love to see this expanded to cover more aesthetics. I also wish Spirit City’s lighting had a real-time responsive option with time zone sync, rather than just Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night, but the current setup works fine and isn't immersion-breaking.
Soundscapes and Music
The soundscaping in Spirit City is initially unassuming, but I personally believe it to be the best part by a huge margin. Every soundscape has a volume slider, allowing full customisation. Several even affect the visuals, and they respond to how loud you've set each slider. I love having the distant city soundscape on a low volume with rain layered on top, and the fireplace set to visuals only. Settings are saved when you close Spirit City, so once you’ve spent time creating your perfect soundscape, it’ll be there when you next open the app. The loops are long and seamless. You rarely notice it’s a loop. The music is more limited. It consists of several pre-made playlists and a YouTube player. Each playlist has around 20 songs (9 playlists at the time of writing), and most sound very similar. They’re not to my taste in Lo-Fi, personally. That said, this is easily solved by finding a playlist you like on YouTube and using the custom player. I typically mute the music and use my own podcasts or Spotify.
Gamified Features (Currency and Spirit Finding)
I was worried at first that fully customising my space would be a grind, but it really isn’t. You need in-game currency to “buy” customisations, but Spirit City hands out currency in such droves that I have over 10k sitting unused. If you’re someone who wants to collect everything ASAP and have tons of room and character layouts, it could become grindy simply due to the sheer number of options. To collect spirit companions, you use specific lighting, activities, and sometimes soundscapes, then wait for RNG to bring one to you. I’ve waited anywhere from 10 minutes to over an hour. I don’t mind this, since Spirit City is designed to be open while you're doing something else. It encourages trying new activity and soundscape combinations you might not have considered. It’s a cute and fun feature that doesn’t intrude on the productivity focus.
Productivity Tools
The productivity tools are... fine. I like the pomodoro timer, but because the tools are entirely contained within Spirit City, I don’t find the To-Do list, habits, or journal that useful. I prefer external apps that I’ve used for longer, which sync across devices. Spirit City isn’t a viable replacement for those, in my opinion, but I can see others getting value from the built-in tools. I usually just set a 0-minute timer and a generic To-Do list item to collect the free currency and XP for completing dailies.
DLC, Collabs, and Some Reservations
At the time of writing, Spirit City has announced a paid sky-based DLC, and just released its free Summer Update, which brought a new background, soundscape, and other customisation options. It also introduced its first collaboration with Among Us, adding some cosmetics and a new spirit in the form of a little crewmate. I really dislike the Among Us collab and I think it sets a concerning precedent. It was added for free to the base game, and there’s no way to opt out, so every time you open your Spiritdex (which catalogues discovered spirits and gives lore), the crewmate is just there. I cannot stress enough how immersion-breaking this is. It absolutely should have been added as a free DLC instead, with collab spirits getting their own tab in the Spiritdex. Spirit City positions itself as a productivity tool first and foremost, so throwing in a popular (and outdated?) video game mascot feels completely off-tone. The idea is to keep the app open without thinking about games, yet here’s a crewmate, staring at you every time you check your collection. You don’t have to equip it, but its presence alone disrupts the aesthetic. I really hope this doesn’t signal a shift toward “collabs galore” akin to Fortnite. Spirit City has its own distinct vibe, it would be a huge loss if that got diluted. I do worry about DLC raising the cost of the full experience over time, despite the excellent quality of them. Paid DLCs alongside free updates seems to be the model going forward. It reminds me a lot of games like Dead by Daylight, where the base game is cheap, but the full experience costs over $100 due to years of content/DLC. Spirit City’s target audience (students and young professionals) is already chronically broke, and I worry about pricing them out. I don’t have a perfect solution, but it’s something that really needs to be considered for long-term sustainability. Death by a thousand paper cuts, and all that.
TL;DR and Conclusion
I absolutely think Spirit City is worth buying at its current price point, especially if it’s on sale. The areas where the game excels — establishing a gorgeous and aesthetically consistent environment, high customisability, and robust soundscape options, makes for a super useful “parallel play” tool that really helps with relaxation and focus. The gamified features don’t interrupt the core of Spirit City as a productivity tool, and you never feel overly limited in the activities available. The devs are consistently adding free updates, and I’m confident the game won’t be abandoned anytime soon. Spirit City has no overtly-major downsides and the devs are extremely receptive to feedback. Definitely give it a go.

I love this game but im worried this studio becomes ea games with the dlc mecanics. I mean i already bought the full game but now they got two dlcs so i dont got the full game just a part. Wich meand i have to spend more money that i dont have to get the update. Im worried that the base game become lifeless compared to the dlc's expansions. So... Please, tell me those two are the only dlcs we will get, im sick of all the indie studios and companys becoming like ea or microsoft making u spend your whole life to get another dlc. Im kinda dissspointed on it..

a very nice 'game' to just chill out to. Some might say it has little 'gameplay' its nokt requiring you to make tactical desicions or have a tight muscle memory. But what it sets out to do it excels at with wonderful soundscapes, custimazation options I personally find super cozy and useful tools for productivity like lists and timers. If that is what your looking for I wholly recommend this game!

I was really surprised how well the gamification of this works. It's so much more than a Lo-fi productivity app - but it still works well as the latter! Lovely developers, great community, and the vibes are OFF THE CHARTS. Thoroughly recommend.

ちゃんと"not for me"でした。

Joined right after the announcement that Lofi Girl is now part of the game – and honestly, that’s a dream come true. I’ve been listening to the different Lofi Girl channels for many years now, every single day, whether on vinyl or via stream. No exaggeration: lofi has genuinely changed my life. Now, combining that atmosphere with a cozy productivity game like Spirit City feels perfect. I can’t even imagine how many hours I’ll pour into this – probably hundreds, maybe thousands – and I’m enjoying every single moment already. If you love lofi and need a place to focus, relax, or just exist in peace: That’s your game. I hope everyone has as much pleasure as I have with Spirit City: Lofi Sessions ❤️

An absolutely adorable game that's actually really useful for people like me that need a little motivation to do the boring things in life. I've never had cute aggression so much in my life, these spirits are going to be the death of me (cutely).

One of my faves of all time. Use it all day most days to get stuff done and have fun, chill vibes while doing so. Or to just relax and play gently.

A game that doubles as a productivity tool? Sign me up! Whether it's just listening to the ambience of the scenery, music, or using my avi as a body double, this game has everything. I love all the collectible characters and how easy it is to level up and get more tickets to buy new decorations. It's cute, cozy, and can be used as a tool. Honestly, some of the best money I've spent on Steam in a while. And don't even get me started with the kitchen DLC - it was so cute I literally passed away. x_x
